(Tuesday, April 4, 2012) York UK – The successful article distribution service, SubmitYourArticle.com, asked the question ’What makes people procrastinate when it comes to creative tasks like writing?’

The writer of the post states that many people dread the writing process, so they put off getting started.

Most of the time it’s simply that the first step is not in place for doing the task, which makes the job more intimidating. In writing articles, the first step is the hardest: determining the topic.  It may also be that if an author has already written lots of articles over the years, he may not have as many ideas as when he was first starting his article marketing campaign.

A writer may start to feel like he’s written about everything that he possibly can. Today’s post at SubmitYourArticle.com’s article marketing blog makes an argument for the contrary.

The writer says “I know exactly how that feels, and I wanted to share some techniques for overcoming whatever we’re calling this –procrastination, writer’s block, lack of inspiration – whatever it is!” The writer then gives tips for overcoming this hurdle.

The first one is to do the hardest thing first. Write articles first thing in the morning, rather than save them for the afternoon or later in the day – or even later the month.  The post says that creativity is also at its highest in the morning, so that works in a writer’s favor.

Another tip that SubmitYourArticle.com mentions is to go back to earlier articles to see if those articles can be rewritten using any new knowledge that has been gained over the last few years. Although, as the post says “Just to be clear – I’m not saying to re-write your past articles. I’m suggesting that you tackle these topics again and write a totally new article with new ideas.”

Other ideas on overcoming writer’s block include writing from a different location where there aren’t the same distractions. Also, since momentum plays a large part in article writing, it is a good idea to write more than one article at each sitting. Start generating different ideas for one topic and, as the ideas flow more easily, there may be enough information for two articles which can be written in one session.
