Interior Painting and Drywall Repair Job Turns Into a Christmas Miracle

What might ordinarily have been a simple interior painting and drywall repair job for Just Paint Painters turns into a Christmas Miracle because of its timing, just 2 days before the congregation’s Christmas Eve services.

What’s that again? An interior painting job becomes a “miracle!”

People decide their walls need to be painted for many reasons. Sometimes it’s just because they are tired of the color or because they are changing furniture or décor. At other times, it becomes necessary to spruce up the interior with a new paint job because they are expecting guests and you don’t want them to see the same colors they saw when they last visited 10 or 15 years ago.

So when Just Paint Painters got a call from one of its past customers about painting, it didn’t appear particularly unusual. Getting the call on December 22nd, the staffer assumed it was for an estimate for work to be completed sometime during the New Year (2012). As company president, Victor S. Freeman, would soon discover, however, this was anything but a “normal” call for a painting quote. The call was from the “First-Lady” of Saints’ Memorial Community Church in a nearby town, and the work needed to be completed by the evening of December 24th. To make the job even more challenging, the walls to be painted were currently sporting plastic-covered wallpaper that had to be removed.

Being so close to Christmas, the number of employees available was limited. So Freeman, Just Paint’s company president, made the trip himself to provide the estimate because of the company’s loyalty to its previous customers. Even with the enormous challenge of removing the wallpaper and the uncertainty of the condition of the walls behind it, Freeman committed to getting the job done in time for Christmas Eve services.

The congregation’s pastor, the Reverend Eddie Durham, said “Just Paint Painters was called out of desperation because we knew the quality of their work, but we didn’t really expect to get the narthex completed in just two days. That would be a miracle!” The company had previously performed custom interior painting work at the Durham residence.

President Freeman himself led the team in removing the wallpaper, repairing the underlying drywall that required extensive patching, and painting. Completing the project before Christmas almost required camping out at the church. But by Noon on Christmas Eve, the ceiling, walls and doors of the narthex looked brand new. When Pastor and First-Lady Durham arrived, they were totally awed by the outcome. They described the interior painting work as a “Christmas Miracle” thanks to Freeman and Just Paint Services.
