Transmode’s Switched Video Transport wins Frost and Sullivan New Product Innovation Award for European Network Performance Enhancement Solutions

WEBWIRE

Stockholm, Sweden - Transmode, a global supplier of packet optical networking solutions, today announced that global business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan has presented its 2011 European New Product Innovation Award in the network performance enhancement solutions category to Transmode for the development of its Switched Video Transport solution.

“The Switched Video Transport drives visibility, intelligent decision making and unification of functionalities in a world where operators have little or no control over multicast distribution. The solution’s unique capability to facilitate migration of non-Ethernet traffic onto the same infrastructure with low latency and negligible jitter performance makes it superior to peer router based offerings,” commented Charanya Balasubramanian Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan.

The Switched Video Transport solution helps operators and service providers meet the bandwidth demand for HD TV services with new capabilities that optimize multi-cast traffic by only forwarding multicast channels to ports that have specifically requested them rather than flooding all channels to all ports. The solution utilizes Source-Specific Multicast and Internet Group Managed Protocol (IGMPv3) capabilities within the Layer 2 Ethernet Muxponder family of TM-Series plug-in units.

“We are delighted to have been selected for this prestigious award by Frost and Sullivan,” said Karl Thedéen, Transmode’s CEO. “The award recognizes how the Transmode team solves complex issues with innovative solutions. It also recognizes the dedication and hard work from all of our staff across all functions within the company in bringing the Switched Video Transport solution to market. Once again we recognized the issues created by the rise in volume of high resolution content across networks and we were able to design network infrastructures with increased capacity and superior performance. This award confirms we are meeting the needs of the marketplace.”

Transmode launched the Switched Video Transport solution in May 2011 and recently announced a customer deployment.
