American Express and Lykke Li Bring Music to the Runway with Special Performance at DKNY Cardmember-Only Fashion Show

NEW YORK - American Express announced today the addition of a special finale runway performance by singer/songwriter Lykke Li as part of this season’s Cardmember-Only Show featuring the debut of the DKNY 2012 Resort Collection. The fashion experience will take place September 15 at 7:30 p.m. during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. Tickets are on sale now at americanexpress.com/entertainment.

“Fashion for me is about shielding myself from the outside world, an extension of who I am and what I am trying to convey but also what I am trying to protect,” said Lykke Li. “It’s almost like dressing up for war, whatever makes you feel strong, safe and free.”

With performances as startling as they are riveting, Swedish-born Lykke Li has grabbed the attention of critics and music fans all over the world since her debut album Youth Novels in 2008. Channeling the demise of The Shangri-La’s Leader of the Pack, a Kung-fu Marianne Faithful and an armed Nancy Sinatra on peyote, Lykke Li’s latest record Wounded Rhymes is packed full of pounding, voodoo drums, girl group gang vocals, love unrequited, hope reignited and her own very powerful voice. The full force of Lykke Li will be live on display on the North American leg of her tour this coming November.

In addition, acclaimed stylist and fashion commentator Mary Alice Stephenson will co-host the Cardmember-Only Show and provide a deeper look into the DKNY 2012 Resort Collection. Following the pre-show cocktail reception, Stephenson will join Ms. Karan on the runway as the two discuss the collection’s inspiration, and the iconic designer’s approach to the world of fashion.
