Beiersdorf wins “Oscars for Annual Reports”

- ARC Awards: Five Gold Awards in the categories Green/Environmentally Sound Annual Report, Chairman’s Letter, Written Text, Interior Design, and Cover Photo / Design
- Red Dot Award – Communication Design: Beiersdorf’s annual report recognized for its originality, emotional quality, design quality, and effectiveness

Hamburg – The Beiersdorf annual report 2010 has won prizes in two prestigious international competitions:

The ARC (Annual Report Competition) Awards, the “Oscars for Annual Reports,” honored Beiersdorf AG’s annual report, awarding it five gold awards in the “Health and Well-Being Products” division. The Beiersdorf annual report convinced the international jury in the categories Green/Environmentally Sound Annual Report, Chairman’s Letter, Written Text, Interior Design, and Cover Photo/Design. The ARC jury explains its evaluation as follows: “The Beiersdorf annual report is a superior book. The cover design is perfect and there is fabulous photography throughout. The quality of writing effectively expresses the company’s message. Strong interior design carries over to the creative presentation of the key figures. As a bonus, the printing is designated as environmentally sound. Overall, the book is an excellent representation of the business.”



Additionally Beiersdorf’s annual report has been awarded a “Red Dot”, one of the most influential design prizes, in the international design competition “Red Dot Award” in the area Communication Design. It is an internationally recognized quality label for excellent design and has existed since 1955. The separate prize for communication design was introduced in 1993, in which originality, emotional quality, design quality and effectiveness are taken into account. The design agency Strichpunkt supported Beiersdorf with the concept, design and typesetting.

The Annual International ARC (Annual Report Competition) Awards are regarded as the world’s largest and most important competition for annual reports. They have been presented by the International Academy of Arts and Sciences in New York every year since the 1980s. Around 1,800 annual reports from over 25 countries enter the competition every year, where they are judged by experts from the areas of investor relations, writing, design, and photography.



About the Red Dot Design Award
The Red Dot Design Award is the world’s largest design competition. Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has been honoring outstanding design since 1954, when it was still known as Industrieform e.V. The coveted “red dot” has since become established as an internationally recognized seal of quality, and is now awarded for a variety of disciplines. The winning works are displayed at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, which is home to the world’s largest contemporary design collection.
