Multimillion-dollar deal includes document management services and nearly 100 digital multifunction systems

ROCHESTER, N.Y. and SOUTH BEND, Ind., May 09, 2006 -- To help manage document needs at its five U.S. locations, AM General - designer and manufacturer of Hummer® and Humvee® special purpose and military vehicles - has awarded Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract.

The deal includes nearly 100 networked digital multifunction systems that have replaced an aging fleet of copiers, printers, scanners and fax machines from Canon, HP and others. AM General expects to save 20 percent to 25 percent on its document management costs.

For its three print centers, AM General has installed two Xerox color MFPs and a monochrome production printing system, which will be used for high-volume print jobs including owner manuals and sales training manuals for Hummers and Humvees. Three full-time Xerox business services specialists will be on-site to run the print centers and manage the entire fleet.

Citing ease of installation and integration as top factors in its decision to award Xerox the contract, AM General will network 95 percent of its new equipment and use Xerox’s CentreWare™ Web device management software to install, configure and remotely manage the fleet. The Xerox on-site staff will also use CentreWare Web to create usage reports, order supplies and troubleshoot, so AM General’s IT staff can focus on other critical aspects of their infrastructure.

“Xerox presented itself as a strong partner with a solution that addressed all of our needs - from office scanning to production-level printing,” said Brian Peterson, senior manager, Supply Chain Management, AM General. “They took the time to learn how we work, so the on-site team can offer the skill and expertise of Xerox, along with a solid understanding of AM General’s goals and processes.”

Xerox WorkCentre™ and WorkCentre™ Pro MFPs were installed throughout AM General’s five locations for office printing, copying, faxing and scanning. The main print center was outfitted with a Xerox DocuTech™ 6135 Production Publisher, which is expected to print up to 1 million impressions per month. Two other print centers will each use a Xerox WorkCentre Pro 265 advanced multifunction system and a DocuColor 3535 copier-printer to handle other large jobs. Each of the four main departments at AM General’s headquarters is using a WorkCentre Pro 2128 color MFP to print color proposals, brochures and presentations on-demand.

“By combining Xerox’s expertise in document management with innovative technology, software and services, we have provided AM General with a complete solution that spans its entire enterprise and addresses all of its document needs. This reflects Xerox’s focus on helping our customers increase productivity for all employees - from IT staff to executives and general office workers,” said Michael Brannigan, president, Xerox U.S. Solutions Group.

As a supplier to the military, AM General required the stringent security features available on Xerox printing and copying equipment. For example, Secure Print - a feature that holds a print job until an access code is entered at the system - helps protect confidential documents. In addition, many of the new Xerox MFPs installed at AM General have received the National Information Assurance Partnership’s Common Criteria Certification, an internationally recognized standard for security claims of IT products and systems.

AM General, headquartered in South Bend, Ind., is a recognized world leader in the design, engineering and production of military and special purpose vehicles with a history of more than 50 years.
