Atlanta Area Printer Transforms Operation to Provide Quick Response Time to Orders

VALHALLA, N.Y., April 18, 2011 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division today announced that Print Direction, Inc. (PDI) of Norcross, GA has installed an Inca Onset S20 UV flatbed press to increase capacity and respond faster to customer demands for high quality point-of-purchase (POP) display graphics. PDI was established in the early 80s as a full service provider of print solutions and fulfillment which produces POP materials for retail, manufacturing and quick-serve restaurant businesses using offset, in-line screen, and wide-format digital printing.

“It’s just been a few weeks since installation of the Onset S20, and we’re already moving jobs from our screen presses to the S20,” said Bill Blair, vice president, Sales and Marketing for Print Direction, Inc. “The Onset allows us to turn medium-sized jobs quicker, and more efficiently. It also gives us the competitive advantage to win more business.”

“Our strategy is to grow the display graphics business by using the Inca Onset S20 to fulfill orders quicker than with screen or offset printing – nearly on demand,” commented Blair. Blair then said, “We’ve even joked internally that the S20 is ‘so fast’ that we’ll need to install a ‘drive-up window’ to serve even more customers.”

The Onset 20’s full-bed print array across the 5’ x 10’ print bed produces high-quality prints at over 3,600 sq ft or 68 beds per hour with no banding commonly associated with wide-format digital printers. The S20 is available in a choice of configurations ranging from CMYK, to 6-color with Light Cyan and Light Magenta, or even 4-color plus White. A unique curing system, combined with the full-bed array on the S20 also gives printers the flexibility to set the desired gloss level on any given print directly from the operator console. “In the Atlanta area, orange and red are critical colors for our national brand customers, and the S20 hits these challenging colors extremely well,” said Blair.

PDI cites two factors in the decision to purchase an Onset S20 compared to other available equipment: superior print quality and excellent service. “We looked at the alternatives as we sought the right fit for our business,” said Bill Stanton, president and CEO, Print Direction, Inc. “The Inca Onset S20 from Fujifilm was our choice because the print quality was superb, and the service record is excellent. Ultimately we believe that the S20 gives us the best competitive position to win more business; it is simply the best fit for us.”

“We’re confident that the Inca Onset S20 will provide PDI with the capability they need,” said Mitch Bode, vice president, Wide Format and Specialty Ink Systems, FUJIFILM Graphic Systems Division. “As a leader in inkjet printing technology, Fujifilm also can back up its quality printers with an award-winning service organization dedicated to helping our print partners grow their business and compete more aggressively in a changing market.”
