Oktoberfest Festival this Weekend in Red River, October 8-10
Red River, New Mexico
10/7/2010
This weekend, beginning on Friday, October 8, the town Red River in scenic northern New Mexico celebrates 6th Annual Oktoberfest. Red River is the perfect location for an authentic Oktoberfest due to the alpine character of the village, reminiscent of small towns in the Alps.
Microbreweries from around the region gather this weekend in Red River to participate in Oktoberfest. The beer tasting contest is an annual highlight of the event. This year will feature tasting contests for the following categories: Best Lager, Best Amber, and People’s Choice.
This year Oktoberfest offers traditional German music, food, micro beer, a Ms. Oktoberfest contest, stein holding and brat eating contests, a "Keg Karry", and art and crafts vendors.
Friday is “Beer Judging” day, Saturday is “College Day”, and Sunday is the “Last Call for Fall”. Each day is rich in activities true to the theme of the day. A complete schedule of events and more details are available on the website at http://www.RedRiverOktoberfest.com/.
