Maxus awarded Powermat Media Account in UK and US

NEW YORK and LONDON — Maxus has been awarded the media responsibilities in the U.S. and the U.K. for Powermat, the innovative wireless charging system that eliminates the need for multiple chargers, power supplies, converters and power sockets.

Maxus, a media and marketing services agency that is part of WPP’s GroupM, won strategic planning, implementation and digital responsibilities for the account after a multi-agency review. The agency’s work will commence with the product’s launch this coming fall via a multimedia marketing effort.

“We chose Maxus because we wanted a dynamic and innovative agency that could deliver media in line with the breakthrough nature of Powermat,” said Beth Harrison Meyer of Powermat. “We feel confident that we will accomplish our goals and successfully establish Powermat in both the U.S. and U.K. marketplaces.”

Powermat’s proprietary technology renders traditional conductive charging obsolete in favor of an entirely new energy distribution process. Products with Powermat technology are capable of delivering real-time wireless charging for portable electronic devices including iPods, iPhones, Blackberrys, handheld gaming systems and even laptop computers. The new product line will be available for purchase in retail stores in late 2009.

“Powermat was a huge hit when it was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year,” said Maxus Global CEO Kelly Clark. “We are confident that it will be a tremendous success in both markets and are excited to play a key role in introducing it to consumers.”
