Agilent Technologies Displays Comprehensive Femtocell Testing Capability

WEBWIRE

DALLAS, Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced it is demonstrating its comprehensive femtocell design and test capabilities here at the Femtocells USA event, Dec. 1-3. Included in its offering is the first 3GPP LTE femtocell test system used to test reference design.

Agilent, the world leader in test and measurement solutions, is at the forefront of emerging markets such as femtocells. Also known as access point base stations, femtocells are small base stations typically designed for indoor use in residential or small-business environments. They connect to a service provider’s network via the end user’s broadband Internet.

Agilent announced this femtocell reference design test solution - the industry’s first - in July 2008. The solution includes an Agilent MXA signal analyzer with the Agilent 89600 Series Vector Signal Analysis (VSA) software and its 3GPP LTE modulation analysis option. It provides RF and baseband engineers the industry’s most comprehensive signal analysis solution for physical layer testing and troubleshooting.

Agilent is also displaying these technologies at Femtocells USA:

* MXG Signal Generator with Signal Studio software, in conjunction with the MXA Signal Analyzer: The Agilent MXG signal generators family of analog and vector signal generators provides high-output power, superior ACLR, fast switching speeds and high uptime. Both the MXA and MXG are well suited for femtocell development testing, yet these same products can be used in manufacturing, taking advantage of their fast measurement times and switching speeds to reduce test times.
* Signaling Analyzer in Real-time (SART): Running the Distributed Network Analyzer (DNA) platform, SART provides a high-performance test solution for end-to-end system verification, troubleshooting and optimization. Full Drive Test functionality is offered on Agilent’s E6474A network optimization platform, which runs on a compact handheld Ultra Mobile PC. The new handheld solutions allow wireless service providers to make unobtrusive measurements in even the most sensitive locations as they troubleshoot complex networks.

“Our advances in testing for femtocells will significantly contribute to the market delivery of this innovative technology,” said Guy Sene, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Signal Analysis Division. “Building on our leadership with LTE, WiMAX(tm) and MIMO testing, along with our multiyear track record of providing base-station test equipment, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to meet customers’ time-to-market goals with this technology,”

Agilent offers femtocell design and test equipment spanning the entire lifecycle -- from R&D through manufacturing to network deployment and service assurance. Additional information is available at www.agilent.com/find/femtocell.
