The smartphone and service will be available beginning tomorrow through select SK Telecom retail shops, as well as SK Telecom’s online store and authorized business partners.

BlackBerry Internet Service is a powerful and easy-to-use service that utilizes RIM’s highly regarded “push” technology to allow users to wirelessly access up to 10 supported POP3/IMAP email accounts. Set up is easy and does not require IT support, making it an excellent option for business users and professionals who don’t have the need or the resources to manage a corporate email server. Together, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone and BlackBerry Internet Service offer a complete solution for a customer’s on-the-go communication needs.

The BlackBerry Bold smartphone also delivers excellent voice quality and includes many premium phone features as well as a built-in organizer (with calendar, address book, task list and memo pad applications) that can easily import contacts from popular desktop organizer applications.

Customers can subscribe to BlackBerry Internet Service for a monthly charge of KRW24,000*, which includes 30MB of data.

To celebrate the launch of BlackBerry Internet Service, SK Telecom will offer new subscribers one year of premium access, via an upgrade, to “Daum” - one of the most popular local ISP email services in Korea. The first 1,000 customers will also get an additional free replaceable backplate in a color of their own choosing, a value of KRW 30,000.

“We continue to see great potential for mobile email use in Korea. According to IDC, mobile email subscribers in Korea are expected to quadruple from 4.7 million users in 2009 to 18.7 million in 2013**,” said Chang-Suk Shin, Senior Vice President of Business Service & Innovation Office, SK Telecom. “We are glad to introduce BlackBerry Internet Service to our customers in Korea.
