Company aligns HP Halo unit within HP ProCurve Networking business

PALO ALTO, Calif., HP today announced a service enabling HP Halo customers to use their telepresence endpoints to reach thousands of people, including employees, partners and suppliers, at one time.

HP Halo Webcasting expands the HP Unified Communications and Collaboration portfolio, giving customers greater choice in implementing solutions that meet their global communication needs.

HP also announced the realignment of the HP Halo business within the HP ProCurve Networking business, which is part of the company’s enterprise-focused Technology Solutions Group responsible for servers, storage, software, networking and services. This move provides customers with “one-stop shopping” in choosing the right video endpoints, services and network solutions that will propel collaboration within their organizations.

“Customers looking for integrated unified communications and collaboration solutions that include endpoint technologies, network management and comprehensive services can turn to HP,” said Ken Crangle, vice president and general manager, Halo business unit, HP. “Together, these developments and offerings are aimed at helping customers reduce operating costs, lower demands on IT staff, extend their reach and facilitate better business outcomes.”

Reduce costs, travel less and broaden reach with HP Halo Webcasting

HP Halo Webcasting allows customers to produce high-quality webcast content – live and on demand – directly from their Halo telepresence endpoints and then stream the content to employees or external audiences around the world.

This end-to-end managed solution enables webcast attendees using notebooks or PCs at home, the office or on the road to easily see and engage with spokespeople webcasting from Halo locations.

As many as three presenters from three different sites or companies can be included in each webcast; this allows for the addition of content experts without being bound by a single location. Presenters simply go to their HP Halo studio and use existing HP Halo cameras to record a broadcast-quality video presentation or to participate in a live video event – eliminating the costs associated with traveling to a TV studio or sending a video production crew to the presenter.

All Halo endpoints – including the HP Halo Collaboration Studio, HP Halo Meeting Room and HP Halo Collaboration Center – can be used to conduct these webcasts.

HP Halo Webcasting includes everything from webcast planning and scripting to video production, editing and distribution. Customers also have access to a customizable media portal that features content such as live question-and-answer sessions via instant messaging or phone as well as surveys and presentation slides.

Increased flexibility, global unified communications integration capabilities

By realigning the HP Halo business directly with the HP ProCurve Networking business, the company can now integrate all components of video collaboration, including networking options and services, while providing customers with single-source accountability.

From HP’s range of networking options, customers can select the type of network infrastructure that best suits their needs. A company may, for example, place desktop video solutions on its corporate network while placing higher bandwidth telepresence and videoconferencing endpoints on HP’s fully managed HP Halo Video Exchange Network (HVEN). Some customers may find that this type of hybrid approach – using their corporate network and the HVEN – is the most cost-effective and reliable way to ensure exceptional collaboration experiences.

Customers also have a greater choice in the types of services used by their organizations to manage video collaboration assets, including:

* HP Network Lifecycle Services include everything from assessment to strategy, design to integration, deployment to fully outsourced management.
* HP Halo Managed Services include 24/7 concierge,(1) monitoring and diagnostics, security, and HP Technology Refresh, which provides HP Halo customers with obsolescence protection.(2) This also provides customers with unlimited access to the HVEN, removing the need to worry about bandwidth scheduling.
