Singapore Celebrity Magicians to Add Magic to Old Victorian Association Concert at the Esplanade

WEBWIRE

Singapore’s premier illusionists, J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning, will be a highlight act at a gala concert organized by the Old Victorian Association for Victoria School and Victoria Junior College.

Entitled “Nil Sine Labore”, the Victorian motto that means “Nothing without Labour”, the concert celebrates the musical and artistic achievements of Victorians over the years. J C Sum is an alumnus of both Victoria School and Victoria Junior College and is Singapore’s most prominent illusionist.

The one-night only concert will be held at The Esplanade Concert Hall on 6 June 2009, Sat, at 7.30pm and is directed by Cultural Medallion Winner, Iskandar Ismail.

J C Sum & ’Magic Babe’ Ning, known for their distinct style of ’urban illusions in the city’, are the country’s top professional illusionists. What sets this pair apart from other professional illusion teams in this part of the world is the equal partnership between the two. ’Magic Babe’ Ning is no assistant, but holds her own with her unique brand of deadly sexy magic.

The magic duo will debut a brand new illusion entitled “360 Sawing”. In this one-of-a-kind illusion, ‘Magic Babe’ will be divided in half and then the top half of her body will be vertically rotated around her bottom half. It has to be seen to be believed! The cutting edge illusion is the latest in their signature brand of “urban illusions in the city”.

J C Sum who adapted and redesigned the illusion from another prop says: “This original design and presentation of a traditional illusion effect has never been seen before in this part of the world. While other magicians have been cut in half before, no one else has included a 360 degree rotation of both halves of the body at the same time. It is fitting we debut such an innovation in magic at the OVA (Old Victorian Association) Gala Concert at the Esplanade.”

The concert is open to the public and tickets are available at http://nsl.ova.org.sg for $25 only, to commemorate Victoria Junior College’s 25th anniversary this year.

About J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning

In recent years, J C Sum & ’Magic Babe’ Ning have cemented themselves as Singapore’s celebrity magic duo. Their equal partnership as a professional magic duo has been acknowledged as “very groundbreaking and refreshing” by JobsDB.

Channel News Asia highlighted that they represent “The New Faces of an Age-Old Art Form”. Millions across Asia have seen their performances in live shows, high profile mega events and on television.

The duo currently stars in “Ultimate Magic” (www.ultimatemagic.sg ), Singapore’s first permanent illusion show and only magic tourist attraction. They perform 5 shows a week in the Singapore Tourism Board-endorsed attraction at The Arena in Clarke Quay.

Last Sept 2008, J C Sum & ’Magic Babe’ Ning teleported 3 spectators across the Singapore River in 2.5 seconds during the inaugural Singapore River Festival 2008 in what Channel News Asia called “South East Asia’s Biggest Magic Event”.

The huge success of that mega illusion prompted the organizers, Singapore Tourism Board, to invite J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning to helm another mega event as the closing event highlight for this year’s Singapore River Festival. Details will be announced at a press conference for local & regional media on 25 May 2009, Mon.
