WEBWIRE

February 13, 2006 - HIMSS, San Diego, CA, USA - Elsevier, the world’s leading medical publisher and provider of clinical content, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver Elsevier’s iCONSULT service directly to the hospital and group medical practice community as part of Misys EMR®, the electronic medical record solution from Misys Healthcare Systems. iCONSULT delivers real-time clinical decision support by putting evidence-based, point-of-care clinical reference content directly into the electronic workflow of health practitioners. This agreement will integrate Elsevier’s drug information from the Mosby’s Drug Consult database directly into the Misys EMR application.

“As part of our continual product innovation, Misys partners with leaders, such as Elsevier, to provide world-class content and resources to Misys EMR users at the point of care,” says Dan Pollard, PhD, Director of Product Management, Clinical Systems, Misys Healthcare Systems. “iCONSULT’s ability to deliver concise, drug and evidence-based information directly into Misys EMR can help support the reduction of medical errors and positively affect patient outcomes in a busy clinical environment.”

Elsevier, the world’s largest science and medical publisher, developed iCONSULT to integrate its clinical reference content directly into the electronic workflow and enhance clinical decision support. Content is indexed against industry standard clinical vocabularies, patient demographics and organized around the clinician’s workflow, allowing iCONSULT to deliver rapid answers to specific patient scenarios directly into the electronic medical record.

“Teaming up with a leader such as Misys is a great partnership for us and for the physicians and nurses who look for the latest clinical information to support their decisions every day. Strategic partnerships like this are very important in our support of the healthcare organizations’ overall quest for a reduction in medical errors and improvement of the quality of healthcare,” says Brian Nairn, CEO, Elsevier, Health Science Division.
