Sydney Comedy Festival History Comes Alive with Launch of New Website
Sydney Comedy Festival today launched a new website dedicated to the history of comedy festivals In Australia.
"Everyone has heard about the Melbourne International Comedy Festival but little is known of the Sydney comedy scene and the origins of the Sydney Comedy Festival which will be re-launched in late 2009" explains Sydney Comedy Festival Executive Producer Nick Murray.
Controversy has surrounded the name Sydney Comedy Festival after the Cracker Comedy Festival suddenly changed its name to Sydney Comedy Festival in late 2008.
Mr Murray maintains the move by Cracker was an attempt to hijack the name Sydney Comedy Festival without authorisation and in clear breach of his company’s intellectual property rights for which he has been forced to take legal action.
Despite this hiccup, the intention of the new website is to celebrate all comedy festivals and the Australian comic spirit.
