GARDEN CITY, NY and PLANTATION, Fla. - The Girl Scouts of Nassau County and DHL Express are joining together once again this year to deliver Girl Scout Cookies to the U.S. troops overseas. DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery and logistics company, will pick up 40,000 boxes of Cookies and transport them overseas to U.S. servicemen and women as a way to show appreciation for protecting our country.

The Cookie send off will take place at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Headquarters on Monday, April 13th at 10:30 a.m., located at 110 Ring Road West, Garden City, New York. Girl Scouts of all ages will help package the Girl Scout Cookie® cases for delivery. The Nassau County Police Department, Port Authority Police Department, New York City Police Department and Garden City Police will escort the truck as the Cookies are transported to DHL’s facility at JFK International Airport.

“The partnership with DHL enables us to continue to send Girl Scout Cookies® to the troops serving in harms way,” says Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director, Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “We are so grateful that DHL donates their time and services to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County so that we can send a touch of home to our troops.”

This cookie donation is made possible due to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Operation Cookie program, “Operation Cookie” which offers customers the opportunity to help lift the spirits of service men and women by purchasing extra boxes or cases of cookies to donate to the U.S. Military. More than 40,000 boxes or almost one million cookies will make their way to recipients internationally.

DHL will deliver cookies to servicemen and women in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force in Iraq, Afghanistan and U.S. Military bases and hospitals overseas.

“As the world¿s largest express delivery and logistics company, we are the global experts in transporting goods across borders,” said Charles Brewer, Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Northeast Region, at DHL Express. “Since 2006, DHL has been proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of Nassau County and to have donated our transportation and logistics services to deliver a true taste of home to our troops serving overseas.”
