Enhances User Interface and GPS Accuracy in Automotive Devices

PHOENIX, Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that it has granted DENSO CORPORATION and DENSO INTERNATIONAL AMERICA, INC. (DENSO) rights under patented technology for automotive multimedia and Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation devices.

The agreement provides rights to DENSO under Honeywell’s GPS technology, protected by numerous U.S. patents relating to mobile navigation technology.

“Honeywell is a leader in the area of enhancing GPS technology to improve safety and operator awareness in numerous systems for all kinds of vehicles, including ground-based vehicles,” said Loria Yeadon, Vice President and General Manager, Honeywell Intellectual Property International.

Honeywell recently filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission (ITC) against four consumer electronics companies for infringing a portfolio of multimedia and GPS navigation patents, and the Commission is conducting an investigation. DENSO will be released from the matter following ITC review and approval. Honeywell previously settled with Kenwood Corporation. The action against the remaining two non-licensees is continuing.

Honeywell International is a $37 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell’s shares are traded on the New York, London and Chicago Stock Exchanges. For additional information, please visit www.honeywell.com.
