New applications for traditional coating process.

Wednesday - February 8, 2006, Leverkusen – InovisCoat is the latest start-up company to locate to the Bayer Chemical Park network. InovisCoat GmbH markets a coating method globally that was originally developed in the photographic industry. With the aid of multicoating technology, up to ten different layers can be applied to a substrate simultaneously. Fields of application are the life sciences, materials science and nanotechnology. InovisCoat has recently set up business from its new office and laboratory premises at the Bayer Chemical Park in Leverkusen. At the current time the company employs three people and plans in the medium term to take on more staff.

“With the triumphal march of digital photography, color negative films and paper are needed less and less. Their manufacturing process is so highly developed, however, that InovisCoat looked for new areas where it could be used,” says Managing Director Dr. Jörg Siegel. And with success: At the moment the fledgling company is developing an analgesic plaster that releases active ingredient layer for layer over several days. The technology could also be used to manufacture innovative filter systems for use in catalytic converters for cars, for instance.

Siegel looks forward to the future with optimism: “At the Bayer Chemical Park in Leverkusen our company is integrated into a high-performance economically attractive and all-encompassing infrastructure. The Bayer Chemical Start-Up Initiative established by Chemical Park operator Bayer Industry Services (BIS) offers us the right conditions for success on the market.”

Bayer Industry Services (BIS) is the operator of the Bayer Chemical Park network with sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen, Krefeld-Uerdingen and Brunsbüttel.
