(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Communications is taking a short trip from its global headquarters in Silver Spring, Md. to shop its bill of robust content offerings at The 2009 Cable Show. The remarkable clarity of Discovery’s HD portfolio of networks, which includes Discovery Channel HD, TLC HD, Animal Planet HD, Science Channel HD, Planet Green HD, Travel Channel HD and HD Theater will be on display at booth #2637 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Making its inaugural debut at this year’s booth is a monumental HD wall spanning over 250 square feet and providing the ultimate “stimulus package” to experience Discovery’s family of HD networks. In addition, a 103-inch HD screen and four 14-foot towers with 65-inch flat screen HD sets will highlight Discovery’s awe-inspiring content and crystal clear picture.

Upholding its commitment to delivering high-quality content on all platforms, Discovery’s education division, Discovery Education, is being featured in NCTA’s “Broadband Nation” exhibit, highlighting the advanced services and consumer benefits associated with cable’s broadband telecommunications platform. Discovery Education streaming, a standards-based digital media resource scientifically proven to improve student achievement and used in more than half of U.S. schools, will be showcased in the school part of the exhibit. In addition, health-related content from Discovery On Demand, the company’s video-on-demand service, will be featured in the medical center portion of the exhibit.

Cable Show attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Discovery’s President and CEO, David Zaslav, when he takes the floor at Friday’s General Session: Economics of a New Advertising Era from 9:45 to 10:45 AM in the Convention Center Ballroom, as well as other senior Discovery executives, who will debate key industry topics during the below panels:

All this activity is enough to make anyone need a “bail-out” so attendees can give their taste buds a thirst-quenching recovery at the now famous Smoothie Bar sponsored this year by Travel Channel HD. Each day at The Cable Show, Discovery will feature a new healthy and refreshing treat inspired by some of the network’s favorite globe trotters.
