TestAmerica to Address Advanced Analytical Techniques for Explosives Analysis at the 6th Annual EM/DQ Workshop

WEBWIRE

Benjamin Hicks, Organic Department Manager of TestAmerica Laboratories, Inc., will be presenting information on mass spectrometry (MS) technology, utilized for trace level detection of high explosive compounds at the 2009 DoD Environmental Monitoring & Data Quality Workshop. The workshop will be held March 30 – April 3, 2009 in San Antonio, TX.

The presentation will review the analysis of high explosives utilizing high performance liquid chromatography for separation, atmospheric pressure chemical ionization for precursor ion generation, utilizing dual mass spectrometry as the detection mechanism. This discussion will focus specifically on the benefits gained relative to traditional UV absorbance methodology, including the minimization of false positive results, increased confidence in reported concentrations, simplified reporting processes, and associated cost savings.

Mr. Hicks has more than 7 years of experience in environmental analysis. He holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana, and a M.S. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. The Environmental Monitoring & Data Quality Workshop involves participation from the environmental community with DoD focused sites and projects.
