Russian Service Provider Deploys T1600 and MX960 Routers for International Network Upgrade while Reducing Costs and Improving Efficiency.

MOSCOW and SUNNYVALE, Calif., TTK, one of Russia’s top three fixed network service providers, and Juniper Networks, Inc., (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced the phase one completion of TTK’s international network upgrade with Juniper Networks T1600 Core Routers and MX Series Ethernet Services Routers. In the initial stage of the upgrade, TTK has increased the capacity of its London-based Point-of-Presence (PoP) by a factor of ten with Juniper’s T1600s, enabling them to support growing demand, while reducing costs and improving efficiency.

TTK plans to continue upgrading its international network with T1600s and MX Series routers at its major PoPs throughout Europe. The superior scalability of the T1600 and MX Series ensures TTK will have the capacity to meet customer demand in the near term. Additionally, because the T1600 is architected to support multi-chassis capability, TTK will have the ability to continually expand network capacity to rapidly adjust to changing market demands.

“We expect that in the next few years, TTK’s annual IP traffic volumes will increase by three times the industry average. This drove our decision to install T1600 routers on three major nodes, helping us to build a long-term business plan based on premium service and customer satisfaction that can meet demand for high-speed Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet,” said Nikolay Didenko, first vice-president for development, TTK.

Due to the expected exponential growth of IP traffic over its network, TTK was the first among Russian service providers to deploy the T1600, the industry’s highest capacity single chassis core router. The T1600 is capable of forwarding up to 1.6 Tb per second while providing a fast, reliable and secure platform for the delivery of quality-driven, bandwidth-hungry applications and services such as video, IPTV and peer-to-peer traffic. Additionally, by being the most energy efficient core router in the industry, deployment of the T1600 will help TTK cut power consumption and save on operational costs.

“The Juniper solution will also lower our CAPEX and increase OPEX efficiency by utilizing less rack space and energy consumption,” Didenko continued. “Furthermore, Juniper’s single network operating system enables us to reduce complexity and drive operational excellence.”

Both the T and MX Series platforms leverage Juniper’s single-source JUNOS® Software, enabling TTK to simplify network deployment and management.

Juniper’s MX960 Ethernet Services Routers will allow TTK to realize the flexibility and reliability to support its advanced services and applications, from high-speed Internet exchange to IP/VPNs. The MX Series delivers the most advanced routing features, including QoS features, multicast support and industry-leading MPLS capabilities, with the ability to scale functionality without compromising performance.

“Service providers face the challenge of controlling costs while maximizing their revenues with innovative, high-quality services that can scale in line with business expansion. TTK clearly understands this challenge, and is investing in its network infrastructure in order to fuel profitable growth and remain competitive,” said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president of operations, EMEA, Juniper Networks. “With Juniper’s service-enabling network infrastructure, innovative companies like TTK can cost-effectively differentiate themselves with quality-driven, premium offerings.”
