Save Money and Get Healthy; CIGNA Teams with NutriSystem®, Linkwell and GlobalFit on Discounts and Coupons

Expands to 28 the number of discount programs available through CIGNA Healthy Rewards® Program

BLOOMFIELD, Conn.- More cost-saving options for health and wellness are now available to people covered by a CIGNA plan as the company expands its Healthy Rewards®* discount program. CIGNA (NYSE:CI) has added new discounts with NutriSystem® to its weight management and nutrition offerings; added an additional credit on its existing discounts for gym memberships with GlobalFit, and now offers online money-saving coupons for foods and health and wellness products through Linkwell Communications, Inc. Anyone enrolled in a CIGNA medical, dental, behavioral, pharmacy, life, accident or disability plan can take advantage of the discounts.

The NutriSystem weight loss program provides gourmet-style cuisine that is heart-healthy, high fiber, and features good carbohydrates. NutriSystem’s nutritionally-balanced weight loss solution is based on over 30 years of research and experience in the science of a low glycemic index diet. NutriSystem restaurant-style meals are tailored to six different groups: men, women, men over 60, women over 60, people with Type II diabetes and vegetarians. NutriSystem provides free around-the-clock weight loss counseling, as well as free access to online tools, tips, and information resources to support successful weight loss via positive behavior modification and encouraging support from a robust online community of over 4 million members. CIGNA customers can save on all NutriSystem® Advanced® 28-day orders on top of any current NutriSystem promotion.

CIGNA customers can also access money-saving coupons offered by Linkwell Health SavingsTM. The coupons are for wholesome foods and over-the-counter health- and wellness- related products such as Kellogg All-Bran Cereal and Vicks’ air humidifiers. Individuals can follow the link to the coupons from the Healthy Rewards Website, select and print out relevant brand offers and redeem them at major retailers such as supermarkets and pharmacies, coast-to-coast. Discounts vary by coupon and the coupons will be updated periodically. The discounts individuals receive through the Healthy Rewards program are a better value than those they would normally see available in weekly fliers and other coupon promotions.

CIGNA is also expanding its discount arrangement with GlobalFit. GlobalFit has offered fitness center membership discounts through CIGNA since 2002. Advantages include the lowest rates, flexible membership options, and the ability to transfer within GlobalFit’s network of thousands of fitness centers. Now, in addition to discounts customers currently receive, CIGNA is adding an additional $10 credit, applied at registration, toward the activation fee or ongoing dues. Participating providers include select Bally Total Fitness, Curves and Gold’s Gym locations, as well as thousands of other national, regional and local facilities.

Wynne encouraged people to learn more about the money-saving discounts available through their plan. In a recent CIGNA survey,1 75 percent of Americans said that discounts for weight loss programs and fitness centers would be helpful. In the same survey, 93 percent of people said that healthy behaviors would help them enjoy life more and improve their energy and 78 percent said exercise and healthy eating would help them save money in the long run.
