Los Angeles, CA – February 6, 2006 -- In response to what Christian prison evangelist Marty Angelo calls a “James Frey repentant heart,” Marty Angelo Ministries announced today it is offering a refund for the first 50 people who are totally disgusted with James Frey’s embellishment to his book, “A Million Little Pieces.”

“This refund is offered to 50 people who just can not live with Frey’s book in their house one minute longer,” Angelo remarked. “I honestly do not believe there are that many upset people who will truly respond to this offer.”

Angelo is not only offering a refund to disgruntled readers of Frey’s “Pieces” but will exchange it with a copy of his recently released substance abuse related memoir entitled: “Once Life Matters: A New Beginning.” “My book doesn’t embellish anything,” Angelo continues, “My book will change your life. My stories are true. My message is real.”

Angelo has supported Frey in the past when television talk show host Oprah Winfrey made “redemptive” remarks concerning Frey’s book.

“Frey should be commended for coming clean and admitting he embellished many of his stories. If there are 50 people who can not handle Frey’s truthfulness then I am willing to help ease their pain by refunding their money and exchanging his book with mine.”

While Frey fabricated and embellished stories in his book, Angelo thinks he brought to light of one the most important curses plaguing mankind today: the abuse of drugs and alcohol. “Who doesn’t know someone with a substance abuse problem?” Angelo continues, “Wherever I go someone is always pointing out a friend, family member or themselves who abuses either drugs (not just illegal) or booze. These people are crying out for help. So James Frey’s bottom line message remains the same: There is a problem in our country which needs addressing.”

This refund and exchange offer comes one day after Super Bowl Sunday, a day when beer advertisers spent millions of dollars trying to lure one of the highest rated television audiences to buy into their ‘embellished’ messages. “No one is pointing a finger at those companies about their misleading commercials,” Angelo remarked. “Why isn’t the media up in arms against the marketing geniuses who came up with those enhanced messages? No one has a problem dealing with those ‘little’ lies. But call your local jail and find out how many drunks were arrested or how many people were killed or injured by drivers who abused alcohol during the game.” Angelo continues, “Why isn’t anyone concerned about these real issues? Why is the media just focusing its attention on James ‘Scapegoat’ Frey?”
