Aetna’s Bongi Magubane Named to Top Black Women Executives in Business List

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Network Journal (TNJ) has announced that Sibongile (Bongi) Magubane, head of Finance Information Services at Aetna (NYSE: AET), has been named to its 2009 list of “25 Influential Black Women In Business.”

TNJ will honor Magubane during Women’s History Month at its Eleventh Annual “25 Influential Black Women in Business Awards” program on March 12. The event will take place at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel. Magubane will also be featured in the March issue of The Network Journal magazine.

Born in South Africa, Magubane has worked for Aetna since 1979, with a five-year absence in the late 1980s. Over the past 30 years, she has built a career as an information technology specialist and today, as the head of finance information services at Aetna Inc., she keeps abreast of cutting-edge technology to support the company’s finance operational, accounting and reporting systems. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.S. degree in mathematics.
