Big in Japan Presents ShopSavvy at MobileMonday Dallas

Company Leaders Tell the Story Behind the Innovative Personal Shopping Application

DALLAS, March 2, 2009 – Big in Japan co-founders Alexander Muse and Rylan Barnes share the story of the development of ShopSavvy, the popular personal shopping application for the Android-powered T-Mobile G1 phone, at a meeting of MobileMonday Dallas tonight.

The event takes place immediately following the SpringStage Startup Happy Hour (5 to 7 p.m.) at Big in Japan’s offices at the Dallas Infomart from 7 to 9 p.m.

Earlier this year, Big in Japan was one of three U.S. companies named a finalist for the MobileMonday Mobile Peer Awards, a prestigious international competition for mobile startups held in Barcelona, Spain.

MobileMonday Dallas is mobile industry networking group for business and product managers, entrepreneurs, application developers, academia, analysts and media. MobileMonday’s main activities include face-to-face gatherings each month and virtual networking via the worldwide community of MobileMonday organizations.

ShopSavvy, a recent finalist for a 2008 Crunchie Award and one of the T-Mobile G1’s most downloaded applications, enables customers to comparison shop on the go, simply by scanning any product’s barcode using the T-Mobile G1’s built-in camera.

Using the barcode information, ShopSavvy searches the Web for the best prices on the product, displaying the lowest prices online as well as at nearby brick-and-mortar retailers. ShopSavvy looks up product reviews to further assist with purchase decisions.
