Rise in Burglaries and robberies at homes of celebrities
leads to increased security measures for upmarket homes

Manchester United and Scotland footballer, Darren Fletcher, is the latest celebrity to have had his home burgled.

Raiders broke in to his home near Manchester and threatened his Fiance and Mother in law before making off with Jewellery , just hours after he left for a match in Italy.

More than a dozen high profile footballers have been targeted in the past two and a half years, in the North West of England. Today, CCTV surveillance cameras were being hastily installed.

“More and more larger properties are becoming the target for burglars and robbers in these trying economic times”, says Jay Bray – Director of UK security company, Amiga.

“While Intruder Alarms are common these days, they are no longer a deterrent given the potential spoils in these large homes. CCTV security systems are now an absolute must for anyone with a large property, given that they are more of a deterrent ; potentially the householder can see the burglars coming, and of course, there is video evidence which greatly assists the police in catching these criminals.”

“A combined security installation comprising alarms, CCTV and security lighting should be considered by everyone with a larger, upmarket residence”.
