New imageCLASS Series Delivers Economical and Versatile Copy, Print, Fax & Scan Solutions for Workgroups, Small Businesses and Home Offices

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in document imaging and office solutions, today announced its imageCLASS D1100 Series, introducing four new black-and-white laser multifunction copiers. Helping replace the cost and complexities of managing multiple office devices, the new imageCLASS D1120, D1150, D1170 and D1180 allow smaller offices to have true copy, print, fax and scan functionality and flexibility all in one machine.

The new Canon imageCLASS models boast duplex print and copy speeds of up to 30 pages-per-minute (ppm)i and deliver first print and copy pages in approximately eight seconds. All models come equipped with a 500-sheet front-loading paper cassette and 50-sheet multipurpose tray. The devices are also capable of double-sided copying and scanning up to 8.5 inches x 14 inches (legal) from the Duplex Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) or platen glass. For optimal speed when printing and scanning, the new imageCLASS models provide a USB 2.0ii Hi-Speed interface.

“In today’s business environment a high level of efficiency is needed, with an affordable price tag,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “Canon’s new imageCLASS D1100 Series makes it easier for workgroups, small businesses and home offices to leverage big-office technology all in a single device.”

Along with the added benefit of duplex fax capability, the imageCLASS D1150, D1170 and D1180 incorporate a 33.6 Kbps Super G3 faxiii and a strong list of fax features, including 221 speed dial locations, up to 512-page memory capacity and 15 minutes of memory backup.

All four products offer added flexibility and user convenience incorporating a built-in Ethernet port for network printing, while network PC faxing is also included with the imageCLASS D1150, D1170 and D1180.

While all four models are bundled with standard features for out-of-the-box business productivity, the imageCLASS D1170 and D1180 also include advanced sending capabilities, allowing users to scan and send documents through E-mail, SMB and USB Memory. The imageCLASS D1180 adds PCL 5e/6 support.

Each model incorporates the Canon Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner, drum and development unit in one easy-to-replace cartridge, resulting in excellent image quality retention and eliminating the complication and warehousing of separate toner and drum consumables.

A further measure of Canon’s commitment to workgroups, small businesses and home office customers is the inclusion of a one-year limited warranty with one-year of on-site service. An additional two-year extended service plan, CarePAK, is available as an option.

The black and white imageCLASS D1120, imageCLASS D1150, imageCLASS D1170 and imageCLASS D1180 meet the ENERGY STAR® guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE). Canon is a long-time ENERGY STAR partner, and is a strong advocate of consumer education of energy-efficient products through its product labeling and environmental programs.

The estimated price of the Canon imageCLASS D1120 is $599, the imageCLASS D1150 is $699, the D1170 is priced at $899, and the D1180 is $999. An optional 500-sheet cassette is available for $199. These devices are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers and resellers in April 2009.
