Animal Planet Media Promotes Victoria Lowell to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations

(New York, N.Y.) Marjorie Kaplan, president and general manager for Animal Planet Media, has promoted marketing chief Victoria Lowell to the position of senior vice president of marketing & operations for Animal Planet Media, where she now assumes the network’s operational leadership in addition to brand stewardship. Lowell will continue to report to Kaplan and be based in the network’s Silver Spring, Maryland, office.

While continuing to lead strategic creative branding and marketing efforts for Animal Planet, Lowell also will work closely with Kaplan to set strategic network direction. She will oversee the management of all Animal Planet operations to ensure an aggressive growth plan for Animal Planet set forth by Kaplan.

Lowell led Animal Planet’s brand relaunch in February 2008 as well as the creative direction of marketing surrounding the network’s best-performing series ever, WHALE WARS, in November 2008. Prior to April 2007, Lowell was senior vice president of marketing for Animal Planet, Discovery Health Channel and FitTV, responsible for brand development, off-air advertising, on-air promotion and event marketing. Award-winning marketing initiatives under Lowell included Discovery Health Channel’s NATIONAL BODY CHALLENGE, Animal Planet’s MEERKAT MANOR and FitTV’s “I Can” campaigns.

Prior to joining Discovery Communications in 2000, Lowell was marketing director for Cover Girl Cosmetics, Procter & Gamble, where she led an extensive makeover of the brand, including the advertising, product line-up and in-store experience behind the “Easy. Breezy. Beautiful.” campaign.

Lowell received her degree as a graduate of Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
