“My Monday is green…” Colored, silicon-coated lancets for simple smooth testing

Colored MICROLET® lancets from Bayer Diabetes Care remind people with diabetes of when it’s time to change

Leverkusen – Sterile, undamaged lancets are essential for smooth blood sampling. The reality is however very different: on average, these disposable lancets are used eight times before being replaced(1). Reusing the previously smooth needles can cause them to become deformed and blunt and can lead to microscopic barbs being formed. This makes them unnecessarily painful to use and delays healing of the puncture wound. In addition, contamination with almost invisible tissue and blood residue can cause infections at the injection site if the needle is reused.

Bayer Diabetes Care’s new colored MICROLET® lancets remind users to change the lancet each time they test: a different sampling color can be chosen for each measurement or day, for example “My Monday is green”. The silicon coating, another new feature on the lancets, makes lancing even more gentle and is particularly gentle on delicate fingertips. Colored MICROLET® lancets fit many conventional lancing devices. The MICROLET® 2 lancing device has also been further improved and its new ergonomic shape now fits in the user’s hand even better. The lancet ejection feature makes it quick and easy to eject a lancet without touching the needle.
