RWE to cut mobile phone costs: Siemens Business Services to provide mobile phone contract support

WEBWIRE

Munich, Jan 30, 2006, With immediate effect, Siemens Business Services will assume responsibility for managing 11,500 mobile phone contracts on behalf of RWE in Germany. The Essen-based energy supplier hopes this will reduce the costs associated with its mobile phone contracts. This five-year contract is worth several million euros and was drawn up with RWE Systems (the company’s IT service provider).

Siemens Business Services is centralizing the support for new and existing mobile phone contracts. In future, there will only be one site instead of the six that were used previously. The relevant processes are also being standardized and improved: a central hotline will respond to all questions relating to mobile phones. Orders will be processed centrally and integrated directly into existing SAP applications, and user data will also be maintained centrally. Information relating to suppliers and accessories will be available from a single location. Telephone charges will be calculated electronically and allocated to the cost centers accordingly. This means that RWE will know exactly where the different costs are coming from.

With group sales of €42.1 billion and a workforce of 97,777, RWE AG is the biggest energy supplier in Germany after E.ON AG. The strength of its market position in Germany (number 1 for electricity, number 2 for gas, and number 1 for water) is founded on a successful strategy: by combining profitability and stability, RWE AG has become a leader among European utility companies. At the same time, yield is set to increase continuously as a result of organic growth and efficiency improvements. Further information at http://www.rwe.com.
