Ludwigshafen, Germany.– Effective January 1, 2009, BASF is combining its two departments Communications BASF Group and Corporate & Government Relations in a single unit. The new department Communications & Government Relations BASF Group will be headed by Elisabeth Schick (42), who has been responsible for Corporate & Government Relations since May 2008. The previous head of communications at BASF, Dr. Felix Gress (48), will become managing director of Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar ( www.m-r-n.com) at the beginning of 2009. Gress succeeds Wolf-Rainer Lowack, who will assume new duties within BASF’s corporate department Global HR – Executive Management & Development.



Schick studied Japanese studies and history in Freiburg, Tokyo and Marburg before joining BASF in 1993. After completing her training in communications at the company, Schick acted as press spokeswoman for BASF in Ludwigshafen. From 1997, she then held a number of positions in various units, for example in human resources, at BASF Japan and at BASF IT Services. Schick was appointed head of Corporate Communications Europe as of October 2002.



After training as an office administrator at BASF, Gress was awarded a PhD in German literature and economics by Heidelberg University in 1991. After serving in a number of functions within communications at BASF in Germany and in the United States, Gress was appointed executive assistant to the Board of Executive Directors.
