Sustainable Architecture Attracts Great Interest at International Architectural Festival

During the month of November Rahel Belatchew Arkitektur (RB Arkitektur) participates in the
First International festival for Architectural Models under the title “100 rooms - 100 models” in Budapest.

RB Arkitektur presents a model of ”Eco House”, a sustainable prefabricated single family house developed in collaboration with leading Swedish house producer Willa Nordic.

Rahel Belatchew also held a speech about the architecture of RB Arkitektur and the process of developing “Eco House”.

- About 20 European countries participate at this Hungarian event, and sustainable development and green architecture attracted great interest, says Rahel Belatchew. The support from the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Embassy in Budapest was very inspiring.

The First International festival for Architectural Models under the title 100 rooms - 100 models takes place in Budapest from 7th until 30th November 2008, and is organized by KÉK – the Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre.

RB Arkitektur is an architectural practice working in the field of contemporary and innovative architecture, and has attracted much attention in international media and has also been published in several architectural books.

Rahel Belatchew Lerdell was appointed Architect of the Year 2006/2007 by receiving ’The Great Design Award’ from Residence Magazine.

In the summer of 2007 Wallpaper*, the international design magazine, chose RB Arkitektur for its Architects Directory: 101 of the world’s most exciting new architects. The directory emphasizes RB Arkitektur’s ambition to identify the uniqueness of each project through extensive analysis of each different programme. RB Arkitektur was founded by Rahel Belatchew Lerdell, who was born in Ethiopia in 1969, and grew up in Uppsala, Sweden. After receiving a Masters Degree in Architecture from Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, Rahel worked as an architect in Paris, Luxemburg and Tokyo. After a decade of working abroad, she returned to Sweden in the year of 2000.
