Telstra today launched the first stage of its T-Suite™ Software as a Service (SaaS) business, revealing its initial online line-up and promising more to come.

Telstra Business Group Managing Director, Deena Shiff, said T-Suite™ online software would transform the productivity of Australia’s small to medium (SME) business sector by making software more accessible and affordable.

“In the current economic climate businesses are looking for ways to reduce costs and better manage risks and compliance obligations. T- Suite™ online software is the answer,” Ms Shiff said.

“Now they have access to the tools previously only available to big businesses without the licensing, maintenance and associated IT costs. Better still they can pay by the month according to the number of users and upgrade whenever it suits, so they can keep overheads down.”

Ms Shiff said for the first stage of T-Suite™ solutions, selected Telstra Business customers would be using software sourced from market-leading providers. These applications will help make business more secure, simple and cost-effective, covering three key areas:

* Productivity - including tools for professional messaging, team collaboration and effective management of sales and marketing activity;
* Security - with desktop, server and network security, to provide protection from viruses, spyware and other malicious web attacks;
* Continuity - ensuring against the loss of critical business data with remote back up for PCs and servers.

Ms Shiff said Telstra would soon be making further content relationship announcements involving leading Australian and global suppliers.

“T-Suite™ Software as a Service will be the place to be for software vendors as we prepare for our full-scale market launch in early 2009. We’re in active talks with more than 50 providers including locally produced software to help SMEs comply with regulatory requirements and workforce management. We look forward to welcoming new partners very soon,” Ms Shiff said.

Prices start from as little as $4 per user per month for desktop security; $10.95 for email; $14 for data back up and collaboration software starts at $19.95 per service per month (fixed term contracts may apply).
