Jena, 11. January 2006 - AJZ Engineering GmbH, a company of Analytik Jena GROUP, has been appointed main contractor to equip the clinic of the Moscow Lomonossow University with state-of-the-art medical technology. AJZ Engineering was awarded the tender for this project following an international invitation tender procedure issued by the City of Moscow and Lomonossow University. The project has a volume of EUR 32 million and will be realised over a period of two years. The contracts were enacted by the Moscow City government and work on the project commenced as recently as December 2005. The Moscow University clinic is the first interdisciplinary clinic for research and training to be established in the Russian Federation in the period 2005 to 2007 following the collapse of the Soviet Union. When complete, the clinic will have its own centre for thoracic and cardio-vascular surgery and research laboratory, in which state-of-the-art methods of cell therapy will be developed for use in clinical applications.
Other significant project features include an in-patient unit containing 300 beds, an ultra-modern laboratory centre and highly advanced training facilities.

A high-ranking Russian expert delegation visited the new Jena clinic at the Friedrich Schiller University in 2004 and consequently the Moscow project incorporates several important features of the Jena clinic. This illustrates the high international reputation of the Jena project, which AJZ Engineering played a significant role in realising.

In addition to implementing process planning for the medical equipment, the Jena-based company will supply and assemble all equipment and train all the Russian personnel.
Having being commissioned to implement the turnkey construction of the state kidney transplantation and dialysis centre for the Volgograd area with a value of more than EUR 90 million last year, the company belonging to the Analytik Jena Group has thus gained a further major contract in Russia’s public health sector.

Analytik Jena AG develops, produces and markets state-of-the-art analytical measuring technology and is acknowledged worldwide as a partner for investment projects in science and industry. Analytik Jena has established itself as supplier of high-tech analytical systems, as well as a provider of comprehensive engineering services in the planning and implementation of clinics or laboratories.
