Harris Corporation Awarded $140 Million Order Under New IDIQ Contract from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

WEBWIRE

MELBOURNE, FL — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received a $140 million order to provide systems integration and information technology (IT) services to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). NGA, a major intelligence and combat support agency of the Department of Defense, is acquiring the services under a new multi-vendor five-year, IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) contract. Harris will perform the contract through its National Intelligence Programs business.

Harris was one of four companies that received the IDIQ award under the agency’s Applied IT Solutions (AITS) contract, which covers a broad range of engineering support, integration services, and related material needed to accelerate access to NGA’s GEOINT (geospatial intelligence) data and services and to transform the use of GEOINT across its customer base. The contract also provides continuity for NGA programs currently supported by Harris for imagery access and retrieval, such as the Web-based Access and Retrieval Portal (WARP).

“Harris will provide the core IT and integration services that NGA needs to make a successful transition to a modern Infrastructure Service Provider (ISP) and Application Service Provider (ASP) environment,” said Sheldon Fox, president of Harris National Intelligence Programs. “We will assist NGA in implementing this new ISP/ASP model, which will enable them to provide managed services and applications to their customers much more effectively and efficiently.”

The NGA supports U.S. national policy makers and military forces by providing timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence derived by the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess, and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on Earth.

Harris National Intelligence Programs business is a major developer, supplier and integrator of communications and information processing products, systems, and networks for a diverse base of Intelligence Community programs. Harris supports the ongoing transformation of the Intelligence Community into a more collaborative enterprise.
