Element’s Innaugural Audio Visual Awards Set the Bar High for the Future: Premier Awards Welcomed an Overwhelming Response with Entries in Music, Video and Art

Irvine, CA – September 23, 2008– The first annual Element Audio Visual Awards wrapped this week and the winning selections were announced on September 15, 2008. Over the course of this summer, the inaugural Element Audio Visual Awards welcomed entries in music, video, and art categories. The winners were selected from an overwhelming number of entries from more than 20 countries. Element’s annual competition was open to content beyond skateboarding, and was created to support a new generation of musicians, film-makers, and artists.

What began as a simple vision quickly grew into something much larger. The awards seemed to harvest an outburst of creativity from the skateboard community and beyond. Submissions poured in from artists of all ages and all corners of the world. “The Element Audio Visual Awards is a great opportunity to celebrate and recognize our audience’s passions and crafts,” said Element’s Founder and President Johnny Schillereff. “It helps build our creative community and provide the participants with a platform for visibility and interaction with Element.”

Element’s goal with the Audio Visual Awards is to incorporate the next generation of talent into the fabric of the brand. Schillereff presented this year’s “Audio Visual Gold“ awards in the fields of fine art and graphic art. With that honor Element will be turning the young winning artists’ submissions into actual graphics to be applied to Element product, and sold in a limited edition run. “Beyond skateboarding; video, music and art are at the foundation of Element;” said Schillereff, “and this is a chance to show our appreciation and bring awareness to our cultures broader interests and talents.”
