SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jan. 3, 2006 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq: ADBE) today announced that leading consumer electronics device manufacturers, including Kodak, Sony, iriver and MagicBox, Inc., are rapidly adopting Macromedia® Flash® technology to deliver customizable user interfaces, enhanced content and superior browsing experiences to end users. More than 45 million Flash technology-enabled mobile phones and consumer electronics devices, including televisions, media players, set-top boxes, digital billboards, cameras, educational toys, car navigation systems and more, have shipped worldwide.

Adobe also announced today Macromedia Flash Lite™ 2 software and Macromedia Flash Player SDK 7 (see separate release), essential technologies that enable OEMs, consumer electronics device manufacturers and operators to provide rich user interfaces and ensure consistent consumer experiences across devices, operating systems, processors and screen sizes.

“We are thrilled to see companies like Kodak, Sony, iriver and MagicBox embrace Flash for rich device experiences,” said Al Ramadan, senior vice president of Mobile and Device Solutions at Adobe. “For two years running, Flash-enabled devices were recognized with awards at CES. These latest applications and interfaces continue to demonstrate how Flash is changing the face of the consumer electronics industry and engaging people with compelling digital content and information.”

Recently introduced, the KODAK EASYSHARE-ONE -- a Wi-Fi consumer digital camera -- combines the power of sharing, taking, organizing, and printing pictures into a single product that optimizes viewing and operation via its unique Flash technology-based touch screen and graphical menus.

“Integrating Macromedia Flash technology into the EASYSHARE-ONE camera provides users with a graphically-rich, dynamic experience -- something unmatched by any other camera,” said Kenneth Guiberson, lead application developer at Eastman Kodak Company. “Kodak is committed to ease-of-use and innovation, and Flash assisted us in delivering both.”

Sony is leveraging the innovations in Flash to bring the VAIO product line to the living room with their Life Flow application. Life Flow is a dashboard application that aggregates content such as music, photos, weather and RSS feeds, through an innovative user experience for easy consumption.

“Sony believes that the next leap forward in home entertainment will revolve around the accelerated convergence of consumer electronics devices, network services and computing on a wireless home network,” said said Bob Ishida, senior general manager of VAIO business division at Sony. “The integration of Flash in the Sony VAIO and Life Flow gives our users highly interactive interfaces and unmatched digital convergence experiences in the living room and beyond.”

iriver incorporated Flash Lite in the release of its U10 Series portable music players this fall, with a Flash technology-based user interface.

“Flash Lite on the iriver U10 Series enables us to provide our customers with an amazing array of Flash-based games, graphics and entertainment features,” said Jonathan Sasse, president of iriver America. “By supplementing the music component of the U10 Series with Flash, we have a distinct competitive advantage over other portable music players on the market, and our customers are truly enjoying the additional digital experiences we now offer.”

MagicBox premiered the Aavelin Digital Signage system integrated with Macromedia Flash technology and DirectSUITE™. MagicBox DirectSUITE brings together advertising and corporate directory solutions for HDTV displays. Other leading technology companies are currently shipping Flash-enabled mobile phones and consumer electronics devices, including Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Reigncom and more.

Today the Flash ecosystem includes the Flash authoring tool, rendering engine and an established community of more than two million designers and developers. By building mobile and device experiences with Flash, OEMs can realize reduced deployment costs, more consistent playback across diverse devices and development of content and interfaces three to five times faster than competing solutions.

Adobe’s creative solutions are mainstays for designers and developers around the world. Recently introduced as the Adobe® Design Bundle, the combination of Adobe Creative Suite 2 and Macromedia Flash Professional 8 enables designers and developers to create rich interactive content and applications across desktops and devices.
