Hurricane Gustav Leaves a Wake of Flooding and Mold across Louisiana

Now that Hurricane Gustav has been downgraded to a tropical depression across the Gulf Coast many residents are preparing to return home in the next several days. New Orleans Mayor Nagin has asked some of the nearly 2 million coastal residents who evacuated across the coastal region to wait at least several days before returning to the city.

Throughout New Orleans levees appeared to have weathered the storm, but torrential rainfall across the region has caused many areas to flood and combined with wind damage many property owners will come home to damaged properties. The flood cleanup will also have to be combined with concerns about contamination from sewage and mold growth from the wet homes and offices.
