Pinnacle Studio version 12 Provides New MovieBox Products with More Formats, Control and Creativity.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Pinnacle Systems, Inc., the consumer division of Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), today announced the latest releases of Pinnacle Studio MovieBox® Plus and Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate, enhanced with full versions of Pinnacle Studio™ Plus and Studio Ultimate version 12 consumer video editing software. The powerful combination of Pinnacle Studio™ version 12 software and the MovieBox plug-and-play USB 2.0 video capture device gives consumers an end-to-end solution for capturing, editing, or publishing videos in all of the most popular formats. The proven software/hardware combination also works seamlessly together to preserve the pristine quality of the video from original source through final output.

Designed for Microsoft® Windows® XP and Windows Vista™ systems, Pinnacle Studio MovieBox allows video enthusiasts to capture video from any analog or digital source such as a Hi8 camcorder, VCR, TV, set-top box, DV or HDV camcorder. With AVCHD support, users can also capture video from the latest AVCHD camcorders and edit their content directly in its native format—eliminating the need for time-consuming format conversions. Support for various HD camcorder types includes JVC, Canon, Panasonic, Sanyo and Sony.

New Pinnacle Studio version 12 features
With Pinnacle Studio Plus and Ultimate version 12, Pinnacle MovieBox users can now enjoy Pinnacle Montage, a theme-based editing feature that enables them to work with up to 18 video tracks. Other features include complete HD workflow, more editing control, one-click uploading to the Web and playback on portable devices.

Pinnacle Montage makes creating a video with multi-track overlays amazingly easy. Users can create professional-looking results in minutes by simply selecting from the more than 80 pre-built creative templates divided into 11 themes that were designed by professional producers and artists. With the ability to overlay multiple Montage presets and enhance them with titles, sounds, music, transitions and other effects, users do not need to drill into various video tracks or be an expert.

Also included with both Pinnacle Studio Plus and Ultimate version 12 are new convenient marker tools for the timeline, new titles and DVD menus and extended 2D effects, including a rotate effect.

With expanded format support, users can now import photos in Photoshop’s native PSD format and the GIF format. New export options are also available for creating MP3, Flash Video, WAV and 3GP files or uploading files direct to YouTube® with a single click.

Pinnacle Studio’s advanced, built-in disc burning capabilities allow users to create DVD, HD-DVD and AVCHD discs on standard DVD media. They can also natively author and burn Blu-ray format (BD-MV) discs with full motion menus or make AVCHD format discs on standard DVDs to play on Blu-ray players.

For complete creative control, serious video enthusiasts will enjoy the professional video tools bundled with Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate. In addition to including a green sheet for Chroma keying effects, three of the industry’s most highly acclaimed professional video tools with key frame control and customizable effects have been added: Boris Graffiti for innovative title and graphic animation, Magic Bullet Looks for professional film styles, and proDad VitaScene for sophisticated effects and transitions.

Pinnacle Studio, #1 in the consumer video editing market in the U.S. and in major European countries*, is also the recent recipient of the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) “European HD Video Editing 2008-2009” award.
