Metso to supply two shredders to Alter Trading Corporation in the USA

Metso Minerals will supply two state-of-the art shredders to Alter Trading Corporation. The first shredder will be installed at Alter Trading Corporation’s new scrap recycling operation in Mobile, Alabama by the end of April 2006.The second delivery for Alter Trading Corporation’s scrap recycling facility in Iowa will be completed in early summer 2006. The combined value of the orders is approximately EUR 10 million.

The Alabama delivery comprises a 5000 hp shredder and complete ferrous and non-ferrous downstream options. This shredder will process 27000 tons of metal scrap per month. The Iowa delivery comprises a 4000 hp shredder with ferrous downstream only. This shredder will process 7000–9000 tons of scrap per month.

The equipment will be delivered by Metso Texas Shredder, Inc., which was acquired by Metso in the end of August 2005. It is the leading supplier of metal shredder plants and related aftermarket services in North America. Metso Texas Shredder’s business has developed favourably since the acquisition, and its order backlog is strong.
