Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Launches IsItLowT.com Web Site to Increase Awareness about Low Testosterone

90% of Men with Low Testosterone Still Remain Untreated





Marietta, Ga., August 2008 -- Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. launched a new multi-media Web site, www.IsItLowT.com, to educate men and health care professionals about low testosterone (Low T). Low T, also known as hypogonadism, is a condition where a man’s body does not produce enough testosterone. An estimated 90 percent of the more than 13 million American men who suffer from Low T remain untreated.

“There is a lack of awareness on low testosterone in this country, and many especially do not realize that low testosterone levels can be associated with other serious medical conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and obesity,” says Dr. Chad Ritenour, assistant professor and director of Men’s Health Center for the Department of Urology at Emory University, Atlanta. “More tools and information are needed to help men and their partners recognize the symptoms of low testosterone and initiate a conversation with their physician about having their testosterone levels checked through a simple blood test.”

With symptoms that include decreased sex drive, loss of energy, body changes, depressed mood and sexual dysfunction, many men and their spouses are unaware of the condition. IsItLowT.com is a comprehensive Web site that is designed to provide easy-to-understand information on Low T, including the signs and symptoms of the condition, how it is diagnosed through a blood test, and treatment options available for men. The “Low T Quiz” featured on the Web site provides an online assessment of symptoms associated with Low T. Spouses who suspect their male partner is suffering from Low T will also benefit from learning how they can talk about the condition.
