WEBWIRE

The DuPont Kinston plant in North Carolina recently celebrated 55 years of operations as well as a revitalization of its operations with DuPont™ Sorona®, a renewably sourced polymer that now is being produced at the site. About 130 people including employees, retirees, community members and special guests gathered for the celebration.

“The Sorona® renewably sourced polymer project has breathed new life into the plant,” said Harold Thomas, plant manager, who has been at the plant for 39 years.

“This is a significant milestone for the plant and a tribute to the employees and community,” said DuPont Chairman and CEO Chad Holliday, at the event. Chad said the dedication of employees and the long-term positive relationship between DuPont and the community were key factors in the company’s decision to produce Sorona® renewably sourced polymer at the site. He mentioned that the demand for bio-based, sustainable products is rapidly growing and the Kinston plant will play a key role in helping DuPont meet that demand.
