WEBWIRE

The next edition of one of the largest selling games in history -- Madden -- launches today and Wal-Mart is adding a new element to its purchase. As the retailer that prides itself in helping gamers be “first to play” with mid-night sales events nationwide, today Madden fans can be the first to receive from Wal-Mart the NEW Madden cover with Brett Favre in Jets attire. New cover photos will be available starting at 12 noon today free of charge at the photo department for anyone purchasing a game at Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club. Those customers who have already purchased the game at Wal-Mart in the early morning hours need only to bring in their receipt for a free cover photo on their next visit.*

Please visit Wal-Mart’s blog www.Checkoutblog.com to see the new cover.

“This is an added surprise for fans and we are thrilled to be able to provide them something unique on this 20th anniversary launch,” said Susan Chronister, Merchandise Manager, Gaming, Wal-Mart U.S. “At Wal-Mart, we will continue to work hard to provide gamers not only the most accessibility to the games they love but added value for making us their retail destination.”

Gamers can also go to You Tube and other video sites to see a special edition of Wal-Mart’s Madden commercial, featuring the hilarious “smack talk” of two comedian gamers playing the new game, all in the competitive spirit of fun. The commercial spot can be viewed at walmartstores.com/video

Yesterday Wal-Mart’s “pop-up store,” in the middle of EA’s Maddenpalooza event at the Pasadena RoseBowl, treated California fans and sports celebrities in attendance to being the first to play the game nationwide.
