TELUS data hosting services to increase security and availability of applications while saving Keal Technology time and money

Vancouver, B.C. — Today, TELUS and Keal announced that they have entered into an agreement whereby TELUS will host the company’s data technology solutions. The $3 million deal will see TELUS Internet Data Centres manage data services for Keal clients, providing increased information security and efficiency for both Keal and the clients they serve.

Since 2003, Keal has created and maintained numerous hosted data environments at various locations to act as an Application Service Provider (ASP) for brokers throughout Canada. With the demand for hosted solutions increasing, Keal chose to outsource and consolidate its hosting services through TELUS to achieve increased stability and redundancy for their clients.

The TELUS Internet Data Centre (IDC) offers unparalleled business continuity service, increased power failure monitoring, equipment recovery and world-renowned email spam filters. TELUS IDC’s have been designed to ensure maximum reliability, security and availability for clients’ critical applications, around the clock.

“Brokers choose to have their technology hosted by Keal so they can focus on managing their operations and growth initiatives instead of their technology. As the demand for hosted services increased, we realized that outsourcing would deliver significant benefits to both our ASP clients and internal team,” said Pat Durepos, Keal president. “We have chosen to use TELUS data hosting services because of their modern technology, customer focused attitude, and overall benefits to our brokers.”

Ismail Pishori, TELUS vice-president of Financial Services said, “TELUS is a national leader in leveraging innovation to help Canadian companies realize opportunities for competitive advantage. Keal Technology is trusting us to host their clients important and sensitive data in our world-class Internet Data Centres. Keal recognizes the extreme reliability, security, scalability and high performance we provide to support applications that are critical to business.”

Migrating existing Keal clients to TELUS has already begun and will continue over the coming months with completion expected this summer. Initially, TELUS is expected to host more than 500 Keal users with capacity for expansion in 2009 and beyond.
