Dow Jones & Company Purchases 14 KODAK Thermal CTP Platesetters

The Wall Street Journal printer also adds workflow in modernization move.

Rochester, NY, -- Dow Jones & Company purchased 14 KODAK TRENDSETTER NEWS 150 Thermal CTP Platesetters and 17 KODAK PRINERGY EVO Workflow Systems as part of a modernization effort at six of its printing plants.

Dow Jones produces The Wall Street Journal, the second largest newspaper in the country by circulation. The agreement with Kodak will bring digital CTP technology to the company’s facilities in Chicopee, Mass.; Bowling Green, Ohio; LaGrange, Ga.; Dallas; Palo Alto, Calif.; and South Brunswick, N.J. Additionally, PRINERGY EVO Workflow Systems will be installed at the Dow Jones advertising services location in Orlando, Fla.

Dow Jones prints nearly 1.7 million copies of The Wall Street Journal daily in the United States.

The TRENDSETTER NEWS Thermal CTP Platesetter comes in six models, ranging in speed from 60 plates per hour to more than 240 plates per hour to suit newspaper printing facilities of all sizes. The TRENDSETTER NEWS Thermal Platesetter delivers fast, reliable imaging with a standard file format interface for newspaper production systems. It is available with semiautomatic or fully automated plate loading and unloading. The machine to machine accuracy of the KODAK SQUARESPOT Thermal Imaging Heads, combined with the binary nature of thermal imaging, achieves consistent and repeatable halftone dot structures.
