AuthenTec Hosting Consumer Biometrics Showcase at CES

LAS VEGAS, NV/MELBOURNE, Florida, December 19, 2005 -- AuthenTec, the world leader in fingerprint sensor security, innovation and sales for more than five years, will host the first Consumer Biometrics Showcase, and its sensors also will be displayed in many popular PC and wireless products in booths throughout the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show January 5-8 in Las Vegas.

AuthenTec will display today’s most popular consumer biometric products - including notebook and tablet PCs, PC peripherals, and cell phones -- at the Consumer Biometrics Showcase, located at booth 72436 in the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Showcase visitors can try out devices from companies such as HP, Fujitsu Computer, Toshiba, Motion Computing, APC, LG, Samsung, NTT DoCoMo, and many others. Marketing and technical experts also will be on hand to answer questions, demonstrate the newest sensors for PC and wireless devices, and discuss the advanced security, convenience, navigation, and personalization features that biometrics can provide.

For the third year in a row, products using AuthenTec fingerprint sensors also will be displayed at major consumer electronic company’s booths throughout CES. Some companies showcasing products with AuthenTec sensors include HP, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Motion Computing, Realm Systems, Samsung, APC and others.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which hosts the conference, has identified fingerprint biometrics as one of the hottest consumer electronics technologies for 2006. “We expect fingerprint biometrics to become an increasingly important feature in many different types of consumer electronics in the very near future,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the CEA.
