Sebastopol, CA—Combine a taco truck, margaritas, live music from Porkchop Express, and a larger than life version of the popular video game Rock Band, and you’ve got a great party. Add the authors of Subject to Change (O’Reilly Media, $24.99) and you’ve got a chance to not only learn more about this innovative book, but to dig deeper into the emerging field of experience strategy and design and meet some of the best in the industry.

Peter Merholz, the president of Adaptive Path, collaborated with Brandon Schauer, Todd Wilkens, and David Verba to write this book. Subject to Change offers clear guidelines and a breakthrough toolset for designing and testing new products and services that will succeed in today’s fickle, continuously fluctuating economy.

“We’re looking forward to talking about Subject to Change and what it takes to create great experiences. The evening will give people a chance to meet some of the UX Week speakers, to chat with Adaptive Path staff in our natural habitat, and to taste some freaking awesome tacos,” says Schauer, Experience Design Director at Adaptive Path.

Located at Adaptive Path’s office in San Francisco, the event will take place on Wednesday, August 13th from 6:30-9:00pm. As a part of UX Week 2008—Adaptive Path’s flagship conference—this “Subject to Change” book fiesta will also host several noted conference speakers. They include Don Norman, author of “The Design of Everyday Things” and “The Design of Future Things,” Audrey Chen from Comedy Central’s thedailyshow.com, and Michael B. Johnson, head of the Moving Pictures Group at Pixar, who will be on-hand to answer questions.

UX Week is the premier user experience conference and is now in its fifth year. The presentations and workshops will focus on what it takes to create great products and services in an uncertain world. With a mix of inspiring talks from recognized thought leaders and hands-on workshops delivering takeaway skills, this event delivers for user experience professionals at all levels—directors, managers, and practitioners.
