BNSF has been named one of Computerworld magazine’s top workplaces for information technology professionals. BNSF placed 17th in the large company category in the publication’s 15th annual “Best Places to Work in IT” survey.

“People may not realize just how big a role technology plays at BNSF,” said Jo-ann Olsovsky, BNSF’s vice president, Technology Services and chief information officer. “Our railroad is at the forefront of the transportation technology revolution and we need the best people we can find. As such, BNSF offers a comprehensive employment package for IT professionals designed to allow them to advance with the technology and grow with the company.”

BNSF placed 35th overall; up four places from its previous position. BNSF is the only railway company to make this year’s list.
Since 1994, Computerworld’s annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 31,000 IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.
