Springdale, Arkansas – July 2008—Tyson Foods, Inc. today donated $50,000 to the Red Cross Society of China to help the victims of the May earthquake in China. The money was donated through the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Rick Greubel, Tyson Foods group vice president and international president, and Jianlin Si, Tyson Foods director of international sales, were on hand to make the check presentation. The corporate contribution is in addition to the money donated individually by Tyson Team Members.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Sichuan Province, who have endured so much with this disaster,” said Greubel. “We’re glad we can help in this way and are grateful to the American Red Cross Chapter of Northwest Arkansas for assisting in getting these resources to those who so badly need them.”

The May 12 earthquake killed almost 70,000 people and affected hundreds of thousands of other Chinese residents. It was the worst natural disaster to hit China in 30 years.

China is a significant export market for Tyson. In addition, the company has a sales office there, as well as three joint venture operations.
