Java Technology Enables Wireless E-mail Service For HP iPAQ 900 Series Business Messenger
SANTA CLARA, CA July 2008 Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA) today announced that Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME) is integrated in the new HP iPAQ 900 series Business Messenger smartphone. Based on the Sun Java Wireless Client software - Sun’s Java ME implementation for wireless handsets - and enhanced with custom features designed specifically for HP, the new HP 3G smartphone delivers a flexible wireless e-mail experience1, including convenient voice2 control and hands-free operation.

Sun Engineering Services delivered the Java ME binary implementation customized and tuned to a specific feature set requested by HP. The Sun Java Wireless Client software integrates with the Windows Mobile 6.1 native user interface, enabling customers to view e-mail in the original HTML format, access contact information and much more through a familiar operating environment.
